You can get $50 off of several Apple products at BestBuy including the 11inch iPad Pro simply by signing up for a student discount which everyone qualifies for, putting it at $749. It’s kinda hilarious.
Or just order from the Apple education store and get more off plus some AirPods.

For that amount of money, I prefer a MacBook Air
On the surface, many would say what you did, given the price of the iPad Pro. It’s all relative. What works for you budget wise, mobility wise etc. probably wouldn’t work for me and many others here. It is much easier for me to carry around an ipad at work, versus an MacBook Air. I can’t hold a MacBook Air one handed and enter a spreadsheet. How about handwritten notes?
