HomePod 'Sold Out' on Apple's Online Store [Updated]

Apple's $299 HomePod is no longer able to be purchased from the online store because it's been out of stock since this morning.

Both the white and space gray versions of the ‌HomePod‌ are currently listed as "Sold Out" on Apple's website, perhaps due to supply chain issues.

There's no word on when the ‌HomePod‌ might be back in stock from Apple, but customers who want to purchase one can still order from stores like Best Buy and B&H Photo.

There have been rumors suggesting Apple is working on a new low-cost, smaller version of the ‌HomePod‌ that will be released at some point later this year, but the current shortage is most likely a supply problem.

Update: ‌HomePod‌ now appears to be available again with a slight shipping delay.

Homepods sound good but no none likes Siri. No one.
She works OK for us. Speak for yourself.

I’ve got a total of five and they are so awesome. I just got two through the employee discount program for the $149. If I could afford more, I’d get them.

We’ve got the whole house covered. With all of our HomeKit devices these make that experience even better.

I was actually thinking of ordering another one this morning. I'm very curious what happens to it next. A cheaper HomePod wouldn't surprise me, but neither would Apple halting production on it. Just no idea how they're thinking about this device.

I really love my current one. We don't ask too much of it, but what we want it does perfectly; we ask for songs on AppleMusic or just listen to Beats1, we set cooking timers, make calls, and my kids like asking it to tell jokes. We're in a bit of a transition at the moment (just sold our old house and waiting for our new one to be built) so it's currently serving as an Airplay speaker for an AppleTV + projector we have set up in my mom's basement apartment. It's been awesome for that too

Siri works great for me. Maybe you shouldn't speak for everyone?

The question in my mind is: If the HomePods are indeed refreshed, will it be aimed at first time owners (ie hitting a lower price point) or will there be compelling reasons for existing HomePod owners to upgrade (ie big new features, better sound quality, etc). Would be hard to hit both, simultaneously lowering price while offering more, but that isn’t out of the question either I suppose.
