bluetooth wireless earphones have been around forever

i had a pair in 2007

the mic quality of the current airpods is no better than my 2007 set

i'm not paying $200+ for a mic that is still worse than regular cheap wired earpods.

i dont like callers saying "what" on the other end all the time.
i reached out to at&t and told them how you feel – they're pulling the plug on this.

I simply refuse to pay anything over $50 for headphones, and even that is pushing it.

My current set cost $15 at Walmart, and while they're not true wireless, I prefer the cord between them since it makes them harder to misplace. I have no problems with Google Voice or calls.

I only use headphones when working out, when working around the house, or when at my work desk, so a lot of the functionality of these "smart headphones" is wasted on me, same as most of the smartphone power today.
Also the fact that the batteries on these will be useless in 3-4 years makes me a sceptic as far as wireless earbuds go. I do not see myself buying new sets of earphones every few years.

To each their own of course and this is by all means, just, like, my opinion, man ('https://youtu.be/pWdd6_ZxX8c').

To be honest, Apple should be shipping/including standard AirPods with all new iPhones. They won't, naturally, but they should.

Good point.

Bluetooth earbuds were everywhere in the 2000s.

They fell out of fashion for a reason.

Apple decided to go with wired earbuds in the 2000s for a reason.

They really haven't improved at all, Apple just made them fashionable again, thought they could make a lot of money doing it, and they did.

I suspect this second wave fashion trend is nearly over.
Hahaha

nearly over. I’ll save your post. Every other company has jumped on the band wagon. Aux plugins are dying and I’ve never been more relieved. I’m not 50 years old, so maybe that’s why I’m ok with it. I use them daily, workout, phone calls, music, etc. especially during this pandemic.

I will NEVER own another pair of headphones with a wire between them. They always got caught on stuff, felt uncomfortable, and were a tangle mess. Why anyone would choose that is beyond me.

As far as price... that’s the best argument, but I also used to buy $20 sunglasses at Walmart and swore I would never pay more than $25. The day I bought a discounted quality pair of sunglasses, I’ve never gone back. Now I always spend $100+. You get what you pay for and for those saying you don’t with AirPods haven’t used them long term or many times/day.

To each their own though. I don’t mind folks don’t like them, but don’t pretend it’s a “phase” people are going through.
