Apple Seeds Fifth Beta of iOS 12.4 to Developers

by

Apple today seeded the fifth beta of an upcoming iOS 12.4 update to developers, two weeks after seeding the fourth iOS 12.4 beta, and over a month after releasing iOS 12.3, a major update that introduced a revamped TV app.

Registered developers can download the new iOS 12.4 beta from Apple's Developer Center or over-the-air once the proper configuration profile has been installed from the Developer Center.

There were no new features discovered in the first four iOS 12.4 betas, so it's not entirely clear what's coming in the update. As a more significant 12.x update, it's possible that the update is focusing on a feature that's not yet available -- the Apple Card.

Apple is planning to release the ‌Apple Card‌ in the summer, so iOS 12.4 could be the update that prepares the iOS operating system for that launch, adding hidden features that will be unlocked when the update becomes available to the public. If we find new features in the fifth beta of iOS 12.4, we'll update this post.

iOS 12.4 may be one of the last updates to the iOS 12 operating system as Apple transitions to iOS 13, set to launch this September.

sounds like you shouldn't be running betas
She's not running a beta. Apple released 12.3.2 only for the iPhone 8 Plus. As a result, you can't do an iCloud restore to a new phone such as the iPhone XS Max because it's only running 12.3.1. It tells you to update the XS Max but 12.3.1 is latest for that phone.

Apple broke their own ecosystem by doing a one off update. As a result, users are waiting for 12.4 so all of their devices can be on the same revision again and restore from iCloud backups.

They have that issue because Apple releases an official update (not beta) 12.3.2 to the iPhone 8 only...

So if you try to restore from a 12.3.2 backup onto an 12.3.1 device, you get an error.

It’s not their fault, it’s Apple’s.

Except you want the iOS 12 beta profile, not 13.

Do you think this will be the last beta? I typically do not update from prior beta and wait till the public non-beta release. I have had problems in the past with the golden master.
Doubtful, it’s over 200mb on the iPad. I’m guessing one more minor update.
