Apple Maps Now Supports Transit in Estonia and Rome, Italy

by

Apple Maps now includes transit information for Estonia and the city of Rome, Italy, enabling users in the areas to navigate with public transportation.

In Rome, transit data covers the city's public metro lines, buses, and tram routes, as well as the local Trenitalia network which includes the Leonardo Express that connects Roma Termini station and Roma Fiumicino airport in Lazio.

Transit coverage across Estonia includes the capital Tallinn's bus, tram, trolleybus, and Elron train services, as well as local links to the country's national rail network reaching through Tartu, Pärnu, and Narva.

The public transport information can be accessed by tapping the Transit tab or button in Apple Maps on iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch.

Apple started adding transit information to Apple Maps three years ago, starting with Baltimore, Berlin, Boston, Chicago, London, Los Angeles, Mexico City, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Sydney, Toronto, and China. Apple has since expanded transit coverage to additional cities around the globe.

Apple is gradually catching up with Google Maps' public transportation navigation coverage, which already includes Rome and cities in Estonia. Apple also recently revealed that CarPlay will support Google Maps, Waze, and other third-party navigation apps with a paired iPhone running iOS 12.

Your vacation got better because of an iPhone app?,..very sad, Lol

Why does everyone believe that something doesn't exist until apple release it,..have you heard of Google maps? It's about 10x better than apple maps!
Maybe because we don't want to provide our data for free to Google so they can monetize it? That's just one of the ideas that popped in my head for your question.

Edit:
Just went thru your post history and now your comment to the other forum member makes sense.
You just like arguing :)

Yeah you're in for a treat with the state Rome's public transport system and infrastructure's in. No app is going to compensate for that.

Good luck and Godspeed!

Keep telling yourself that. Given the choice between all the free and good mapping apps, which all can be installed in less than 60 seconds, the vast majority of people now choose Apple Maps over Google maps for their iPhones and hundreds of millions of people use that "horrible Apple Maps" to the tune of many BILLION times a week. Also keep telling yourself that while Google tracks everywhere you go and what you do along the way and adds it to your "universal identifier" that ties together your photos, documents, email, posts, contacts, searches, etc., into your personal dossier available to hackers, government agencies, intel, successor companies, their own companies, etc.

The other thing you are missing out on is that Apple transit information is far better than Google's. Apple could have done what Google did and turned on transit information everywhere by simply importing the third party transit data, but Apple saw the criticism Google gets for transit and decided to build a better experience. It takes a lot more time and money to do what Apple is doing, but they are customizing the transit experience in each region. Here's a great article that explains why it takes longer, but is a far better experience than Google's
