I should be able to walk in pretty much any store with a touchpad card reader and use Apple Pay. The only place I use it is Wegmans. We're 3 or 4 years in and this is as good as it gets?

I recently travelled to Australia for the first time. I was there for 8 days and I paid for literally everything with Apple Pay. Not once did I have to pull out cash or a credit card.

The difference is that tap terminals are mandatory there.

It’s always interesting when a credit card terminal accepts it, but the employee is still standing there telling you to swipe your card.

I had that happen to me, and it was at an Express when AP rolled out about 2 months prior, which was an Apple Pay launch partner. They had the signage right there on the reader and everything and their cashier was arguing with me about being able to pay with a phone. It ended up working, but I did take the very rare step of reaching out to a corporate department to ask them to enhance their employee training. It was really annoying to have to read the store's own signage to their own employee and explain what it meant.
