Apple Joins Instagram to Share 'Shot on iPhone' Photos From Users Around the World

Apple has officially joined Instagram.

The company opened the followable account @Apple today that will exclusively feature curated photos and videos from iPhone users around the world, according to Mashable. The report said Apple won't share any ads or marketing on the account, which has already quickly amassed thousands of followers.

Apple's presence on Instagram had been limited to ads, without a followable account, and an @AppleMusic account. Apple has traditionally shied away from social networks, with blank accounts on Facebook and Twitter that, for now, exist to serve ads. The company also runs @AppleSupport on Twitter.

Apple tells Instagram followers to use the hashtag #ShotoniPhone for a chance to have their photos and videos shared in one of the galleries.

Instagram today implemented a small but useful change, allowing Instagram users to edit their comments for up to 15 minutes after writing the initial comment. The Meta-owned social media site has long supported editing an Instagram post, but comments have never been able to be updated to correct typos. Editing a comment can be done by tapping on the new "Edit" option that is displayed after...

As we previously reported, astronauts aboard NASA's Orion spacecraft used the iPhone 17 Pro Max to take selfies of themselves with the Earth in the background during the Artemis II mission around the far side of the Moon last week. Now that the crew members have safely returned to Earth, Apple's CEO Tim Cook and marketing chief Greg Joswiak have both turned to social media to congratulate...

Apple is trash. They're like the kid at school that just tries too hard to be cool.

You used be the crazy ones, the misfits... now you're just trying to fit in.
And you're getting old and cranky.

Nice move, but seems like something that they should have done, from the get go.

I'm still surprised the @Apple Twitter account still hasn't tweeted anything yet since 2011. Let's hope they don't follow that trend on their Instagram page :p

It's amazing that Apple spending enough on marketing is able to convince so many people that taking decent snapshots in ideal conditions is all you need.

No optical zoom, no low light performance, horrible resolving ability of the lens, but just look at these carefully curated photos that under ideal conditions that show what a magnificent camera it is. And the sheeple eat it up.
It is a magnificent camera. Just because you are not able to make decent photos with one (and perhaps even with other cameras) doesn't mean others are not able to.

Making a compelling photograph is rarely about gear. Rather, it speaks to one's life experiences, curiosity, imagination, eye, understanding of light, composition, and various other skills.
