Verizon today announced a new promotion that’s designed to encourage its customers to sign up for both Verizon Wireless cellular service and Verizon Fios internet and TV plans.

Verizon Fios customers who activate a new service on Verizon Unlimited will receive $250 in bill credits (applied as a $10 discount over 25 months), while Verizon Wireless customers can get a $250 Verizon Wireless gift card when signing up for a qualifying Triple Play Fios TV, internet, and phone package with a two-year agreement.

New customers can take advantage of both of the offers simultaneously for a total of $500 back during the promotion period.

Verizon's Triple Play Fios plans start at $80 per month for 150/150Mb/s internet, phone, and custom TV package. Verizon’s new Unlimited cellular plan is priced at $80 per month for a single user.

So this is Verizon's response to T-Mobile's crazy new 3 lines of unlimited for $100/mo that launches tomorrow? HAH! I spoke with a rep yesterday—asked her if she could lower my bill or I'll switch to T-Mobile. Told her it would save me $38/mo. She said she could save me $5.84/mo if I went down to an 8GB data plan from my 25GB data plan. I laughed at her and hung up. BYE. This is pathetic. I think T-Mobile finally won this round of the mobile wars.

Really $10 over 25 months? Who the heck is going to even feel the difference saving $10, these companies are such jacka$$es with their funny accounting on these deals and the way they present it.

A little off topic but I'm going to vent anyway.

Since Verizon announced their unlimited plans, I've tried several times (4-5) to get them to waive their asinine activation fees so I could more easily switch from AT&T.

They refused.

So now that AT&T has a like-minded plan, I'm staying with them.

Verizon will be losing out on $3600 per year from me and my family plan because of the industry's stupid fee practices and their stubborn unwillingness to waive them to attract customers.

Pathetic.

I'll enjoy my AT&T plan. Eff you too, Verizon.

..except that their network coverage is hot garbage outside of major metro cities. I live right outside Chicago, and I can't use my T-Mo work phone inside of most buildings. Verizon will continue to do find as long as their network is far superior. This is why they don't have to compete with T-Mo penny for penny.
