Buyer's Guide: Discounts on iPad Mini 3, Retina MacBook Pro, Apple Accessories and More

Now that the iPad mini 4 is out, the iPad mini 3, which is basically an iPad mini 2 with Touch ID, has been discontinued by Apple. That means retailers have begun dropping prices on iPad mini 3 models that remain in stock, so it may be possible to get a good deal on an iPad mini 3 if you need to save a few bucks.

Prices are finally dropping on the Retina MacBook, five months after it first launched. Discounts are up to $150, so it's a good time to pick up one of Apple's ultra slim notebooks.

As always, we've also hunted down some great accessory deals and outlined a list of apps and games that are currently on sale.

iPad Air 2

Staples has discounted its iPad Air 2 lineup by $100, dropping the price on all WiFi and WiFi + Cellular models as low as $399.

Target is offering up to $100 off its selection of iPad Air 2 models. The best deal is on the 16GB Gold WiFi only model, which is available for $399 instead of $499.

Amazon is also offering some discounts. The 16GB WiFi only iPad Air 2 in gold is available for $425, while the 64GB version is available for $533. The 16GB WiFi only iPad Air 2 in silver is available for $432.99, while the 64GB version is available for $537.98. The 128GB WiFi only iPad Air 2 in Space Gray is available for $627.83.

The 16GB Cellular iPad Air 2 in Gold is available for $544, and the 64GB Cellular version in Space Gray is available for $668.89.

B&H Photo is offering a discount on some of its iPad Air 2 models, dropping prices by $30 to $75. With the discount, the 64GB WiFi only iPad Air 2 in Silver is priced at $569, while the 64GB Cellular model is priced at $669.

B&H only charges sales tax in New York, which is also worth keeping in mind when looking for a deal.

iPad Air

Best Buy, Amazon, and B&H Photo have discounts on various iPad Air models, including lower-capacity models that Apple still sells and a bit of remaining stock of now-discontinued higher-capacity iPad Air models.

iPad mini 3

With the iPad mini 3 now discontinued, several retailers, including Best Buy, Amazon, and B&H Photo, are offering remaining stock at discounted prices. The notable deals are listed below.

Target has discounted some of its iPad mini 3 models by $100, dropping the price on the 16GB WiFi only model to $299, down from $399. The 64GB version is available for $399, down from $499, and the 16GB Cellular model is available for $429, down from $529.

Staples is also discounting its iPad mini 3 stock by $100, dropping prices as low as $399.

iPad mini 2

Amazon has discounts on a few current iPad mini 2 models. The 16GB Cellular AT&T iPad mini 2 in Silver is available for $295, which is close to the lowest price we've seen, and the Space Gray version is available for $290. The 16GB Cellular Verizon iPad mini 2 is available for $299.98, and the 32GB version is available for $330.

Retina MacBook

Several sites are now offering decent discounts on the Retina MacBook, dropping the price on some models by up to $150.

Kingdom Rush Origins is also available for $0.99, down from $2.99, as is the HD version. RPG Revenant Saga is available for $0.99, down from $3.99. Hero Emblems is $0.99, down from $3.99.

Calculator notepad app Soulver is available for $0.99, down from $4.99. Splashtop 2 Remote Desktop is available for Free, down from $2.99. Shortcut app Launch Center Pro is available for $3.99, down from $4.99. Music app DrumPerfect is available for $3.99, down from $14.99.

Puzzle game Shadowmatic was named Apple's App of the Week, so it will be free to download until next Thursday when a new app is picked.

Apple Accessories

EarSkinz is offering 30 percent off all earbud and EarPod skins with the promo code ES30OFF through 9/21. Staples is selling iTunes gift cards at a 15 percent discount, with the deal applicable to all cards over $25 in value. Best Buy is selling a selection of Belkin Home and Vehicle chargers for $9.99, down from $39.99.

The Just Mobile Powerpack and Charging Dock is available for $54.95 from Groupon, down from $79.95. Vaja cases is offering 10 percent off on all of its iPhone and iPad cases through 9/24.

Woot is selling Twelve South BookBook cases for the iPhone 5/5s for $19.99, down from $59.95. Groupon is continuing with its Apple Event, which discounts a wide variety of Apple Products by 75 percent off. Items on sale include the Apple TV, older model iPads, and a wide variety of cases and other accessories.

Come on MacRumors, Staples has iPad Air 2 for $100 off MSRP for all models and Target has them on sale too, albeit not $100 off.

Really sorry, sometimes deals go under the radar because I only have a couple hours a week to put these posts together. I didn't see the Target/Staples deals -- definitely feel free to email me if you see an awesome deal somewhere. It's hard to keep track sometimes.
