Great, more bloatware added to iTunes.
Photo syncing has been there for years (and I rely on it). This is not new. (Just a fix after the change from iPhoto to Photos.)

Fix for iTunes not launching

Thanks to ben.d for this at the Apple Forums.

Download iTunes from https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Open the Terminal
Run "sudo rm -r /Applications/iTunes.app"
Re-install iTunes

This resolved my issue. iTunes launches now.

I can't recall the last time I even opened iTunes...

I use it all the time to sync iPhone. But it is good to know that you don't use it.

Great, more bloatware added to iTunes.

What is the basis for your conclusion? Have you checked it's cpu usage against the previous version? Is it taking up more storage space? Thanks.

I don't know why the Get Info window got damaged in the first place, but I'm glad they finally fixed it. It was incredibly ugly for a month or so.

Edit: I take that back. It's still broken. Bloody hell.

Just for clarification - Is there anybody here, who have a successful install of the new iTunes release where it can be opened afterwards?

The update works fine for me as well. I'm on Mavericks 10.9.5, running on a late 2007 24" iMac.
Kinda wish I was back on iTunes 10.7. I miss Cover Flow still.
