Apple Seeds First OS X 10.10.2 Yosemite Beta to Developers [Updated]

Apple today seeded the first beta of OS X 10.10.2 Yosemite to developers, just three days after releasing OS X 10.10.1 to the public.

The new beta, build 14C68k, is available through the Software Update mechanism in the Mac App Store and should be available in the Mac Dev Center soon. The beta also includes Safari 8.0.2 and an update to the Mail app (version 8.2).

Like OS X 10.10.1, as a minor update, OS X 10.10.2 is likely to bring bug fixes and performance improvements to the operating system. OS X 10.10.1 introduced several reliability enhancements, including improvements to Wi-Fi, but many users have still been reporting issues with Wi-Fi stability in Yosemite.

Update: It appears that OS X 10.10.2 is causing the latest version of Google's Chrome browser to crash. Retina iMac owners are also seeing display issues with the beta.

Update 2: The Chrome/10.10.2 issue is related to the trackpad, and the crashing can be circumvented by using an external mouse and disabling the trackpad while the mouse is plugged in.

Wish I still had ML. Apple spends a quarter of a year B.S.ing about how their great, coming-soon new Mac OS will be the best, most amazing OS ever. Then they spend an hour releasing it only to spend the next three-quarters of a year trying to fix it as much as possible before Tim & Jony's next OS Fashion Show release.

"You should consider Windows in the future if you feel that strongly."

What type of attitude is that? It is well known that improvements come from suggestions and complaints.

Apple needs to focus intensely on Quality.

Apple has gotten to the top because of its reputation for quality. Customers are willing to pay a higher price because they demand higher quality. Long time Apple customers are becoming disillusioned! (Read the latest 500 reviews on the App Store - over 50% are negative).

Many of these negative reviews could have been avoided if Apple had paid attention to the Apple Seed Testers (They appear to have been ignored during the development of Yosemite).

Focus less on appearing fashionable and more on USER EXPERIENCE!

Spend a little money and hire people to search the forums for issues. In addition, have a team of engineers dedicated to solving these issues.

Allow users to customize the user interface. Microsoft was forced into allowing greater customization when the Windows user base started growing dramatically in the 90's. Microsoft faced constant pressure and complaints for customization features. When Microsoft removed the customization features in Windows 8 their customer base was outraged and created Microsoft all sorts of problems. Apple is now in the same position.

Here are the features I wish Yosemite had.

Ability to customize OSX in the following ways:

Ability to change Dock color, and Finder Sidebar colors if transparency is turned off.

Ability to set which items are transparent or not.

Light colored transparency or dark colored transparency.

Optional larger font size for the Menu bar. (This is becoming a big issue with potential switchers.)

Option to set the default behavior of the “Green Button”. Personally I wish I could set it to open full window and not full screen. Why? Quick access to the Menu bar and the Dock are important to me. In addition, I don’t like the delay switching between full screen and non full screen.

Option to set the default screen size upon opening an app. This option could be placed in Get Info. I suggest three options – Full Screen, Full Window, Windowed.

It would be so nice not to have to rearrange the app each time I open it.

Arrow Snap – Microsoft’s best contribution to graphical computing (for arranging windows side by size on the screen).

With Chrome, it might be a plugin/extension issue..

I also noticed that the main Transmission window no longer updates..
VLC no longer plays videos.

What is going on?!

Seriously.. Apple has gone downhill since Jobs left.

You're using beta software and are complaining about 3rd party apps not working?

Very good point indeeeeeeed. To the whiners: it would be great if you could report your problem to apple and help to improve the products. At your leisure of complaining. No one else knows how to complain so hard when you don't even have WiFi.

So you suggest that LIKE YOU, he should just turn around and bend over? After spending PREMIUM price for supposedly "premium" product? He probably bought it because of this claims and doesn't want windows BS....yet he got just that. Mc OS Vista.
Real world doesn't work like this. You don't just buy some product, pay premium price for it and then just throw it away if you found out you got screwed.
Here is an idea....maybe instead of paying insane amount of $ for some beats company or some burberry chick....try to hire some engineers.....you know, the ones that actually make products. If anyone actually read some interview from apple employees he would realize that there is insane small team of engineers working on projects. Sure they are probably god like, but time constraints are insane and they are bound to make mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes when in hurry. What is next for bean counter Timmy.....moving development to india? Maybe put snop dogg on os x dev team and pay him couple of billions so he can get all the weed he likes.
Tim C(r)ook: "Oh our products don't work and i have **** loads of work to do? Nah, I would just rather go to some convention to support gay people and use Apple for my personal goal. People will still buy our product so why bother"
